Nice community garden in the battery park. It was closed when we went, but you could still see inside.

Beautiful spot with amazing views, but thereโs almost no shade, which makes it uncomfortable during the hot summer months. In the winter, there are often many homeless people around. The playground is fun for kids, but again, no shade there either.

Battery Urban Farm is a peaceful green space in The Battery, offering a hands-on, educational experience. Itโs fully accessible, with flat paths suitable for wheelchairs and strollers. While the farm doesnโt have its own cafรฉ, nearby spots like Bluestone Lane and Friedman's offer great food. Open seasonally, the farm features vegetables, herbs, flowers, and oyster stations, with self-guided tours and tastings. A great, family-friendly stop in lower Manhattan!

Living in NYC, itโs so hard to give my child the experience of planting and understanding where food comes from. Iโve often wondered how to teach him about things like planting seeds, pulling weeds, and digging for worms, especially since we donโt even have a balcony. Thatโs why discovering this small urban farm was such a gem. Itโs open for kids to fully immerse themselves in the life of a farmer. Though itโs small, they get to plant seeds, water the plants, smell the herbs, and pick fruit. I found out about it through our local community website and was able to book an hour-long session for us. It was a great way to enjoy a โfarm to tableโ experience right here in the city. By the way, the cherry tomatoes were incredibly sweet!

The Battery is one of the beautiful places I ve been. . If you want to go visit the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island this is the place where you can get the ferry boat โด and see the magnificent sights.
